Evolutionary Biology Boot Camp
Jan. 21 – Jan. 24, 2014
The Boot Camp is intended to acquaint program participants with the key themes of the program. It will consist of eleven extended lectures given by experts on various topics as follows:
Montgomery Slatkin (UC Berkeley): "Historical Development of Evolutionary Biology"
Steven Evans (UC Berkeley), Anand Bhaskar (UC Berkeley), & Shishi Luo (Duke University): "Mathematical Models in Population Genetics"
Sebastien Roch (University of Wisconsin-Madison): "Phylogenetics"
Charles Marshall (UC Berkeley): "The Origin and Evolution of Life on Earth"
Charles H. Langley (UC Davis): "Speciation"
Rasmus Nielsen (UC Berkeley): "Natural Selection and Adaptation
Christos Papadimitriou (UC Berkeley): "Computational Views of Evolution"
Varun Kanade (UC Berkeley): "Evolution as Computational Learning"
Oskar Hallatschek (UC Berkeley): "Experimental Evolution"
Boris Shraiman (UC Santa Barbara): "Statistical Physics Views of Evolution"
Iain Mathieson (University of Oxford): "Evolution of Complexity"
