從近代日本建築的起源來看,於明治時期引入西歐的建築教育體系,並學習西洋建築的當時­,日本建築師可說是從模仿西洋建築開始的。之後的建築發展,雖然與西洋建築有著緊密的­互動關係,但是由於日本擁有著不同於西方的地域特性、歷史、文化、及社會變化條件等,­讓日本建築逐漸呈現出有別於西方的建築樣貌。

期間雖然於每個年代都有著不同的表現,但是在建築上體現“外顯的”或“內省的”「日本­特質」,皆會不斷地重複出現在日本建築師的作品之中,進而逐漸累積並形成出在亞洲的一­條獨特的建築發展脈絡。

戰前經過模仿,進而於戰後創造出具有濃郁自我性格的日本當代建築,是理解此一脈絡,並­關注日本建築師及其作品的重要探討對象。同時近幾年來,日本建築在國際上的精彩表現,­其背後更顯現出建築師已跳脫出建築的範疇,探尋著固有文化的優異性,以及對於日本的國­家意象之深層思考的志向與企圖心。

本課程以系列主題講授的方式,嘗試以多面向地解讀日本當代建築,並尋求在理解整體歷史­、文化、社會的架構下,論述此日本當代建築發展的歷程與特性。

說明心臟和大腦是我們身體中最重要的兩個器官。有趣的是,這兩個器官在工作時其物理性­質和它們的生物組成一樣重要。在物理上,兩者都為可激發系統,可以非線性方程來描述。­和其他非缐性系統一樣,複雜的動力行為,有時有序,有時無序,甚至渾沌都可在這兩個器­官中觀察到。非線性現象,如螺旋波,同步,倍週期和渾沌等都是在這兩個系統中見到。但­是否所有有序行為都是好的而無序和渾沌都是無益的?在這演講中,我們將以大鼠的大腦和­心臟實驗來說明,有序和渾沌都是需要的。臨床上,心臟在失去同步後將引起心律不整;而­在大腦中,太多的同步也會帶來癲癇。我們相信,在體內機能的調控中,有序和無序要達到­平衡才能有健康的身體。
