Il corso sviluppa l'analisi e la caratterizzazione elettrica dei circuiti integrati digitali, con enfasi sugli aspetti che integrano la tecnologia di realizzazione con le prestazioni statiche e dinamiche di tali circuiti. Vengono discussi, con particolare riferimento alla tecnologia CMOS le soluzioni circuitali e gli elementi di progetto delle porte logiche elementari e dei sottosistemi integrati combinatori e sequenziali più utilizzati. Vengono inoltre analizzate le architetture e i circuiti costituenti le attuali memorie a semiconduttore statiche e dinamiche.
Contenuti
- Caratteristiche statiche e dinamiche delle famiglie logiche. Richiami sulle tecnologie di realizzazione e sulle regole di progetto.
- Porte logiche elementari NMOS e CMOS. Analisi delle prestazioni statiche e dinamiche. Criteri di progetto. Dipendenza dei tempi di propagazione dal layout dei circuiti. Uso del simulatore SPICE come ausilio all'analisi e al progetto di porte logiche.
- Porte logiche bipolari. Analisi delle prestazioni statiche e dinamiche di porte logiche TTL, ECL. Margini di immunità ai disturbi e dipendenza dalla temperatura. Analisi di porte bipolari con il simulatore SPICE.
- Confronto tra prestazioni di porte logiche standard MOS e bipolari. Implementazione di circuiti logici combinatori: porte A-O-I, tri-state, logiche cablate. Circuiti di interfaccia tra famiglie logiche diverse. Analisi di circuiti combinatori con tecnologia MOS e bipolare.
- Circuiti CMOS complessi. Codificatori e decodificatori: implementazione a porte NAND e a NOR. Multiplexer e demultiplexer. Esempi di layout.
- Circuiti dinamici: pass transistors, registri a scorrimento dinamici. Circuiti Domino e NORA. Implementazioni di funzioni logiche complesse con circuiti dinamici. Analisi con SPICE di alcuni circuiti dinamici. Confronto tra logiche statiche e dinamiche.
- Circuiti sequenziali e generatori di forme d'onda. Multivibratori monostabili, bistabili e astabili CMOS. Flip-flop S/R, Master Slave, J/K, D.
- Analisi e progetto di stadi di disaccoppiamento MOS e CMOS. Logiche e buffers BiCMOS. Esempi di analisi di logiche BiCMOS con SPICE. Logiche CMOS e BiCMOS low-voltage.

Il corso è dedicato ad uno degli aspetti fondamentali della teoria e della tecnica delle telecomunicazioni: la trasmissione dell'informazione da una sorgente ad un destinatario, e si propone di fornire gli strumenti metodologici e concettuali per la comprensione dei problemi di trasmissione e per la corretta interpretazione delle soluzioni che la tecnologia delle telecomunicazioni ha posto in essere, con l'obbiettivo di fornire allo studente la preparazione sufficiente per seguire in modo consapevole i futuri sviluppi delle telecomunicazioni
Contenuti
Il corso è articolato in quattro parti:
La prima parte è dedicata alla caratterizzazione e alla modellizzazione delle principali sorgenti di informazione di interesse per le applicazioni di telecomunicazioni; sono trattate sorgenti sia di tipo numerico, sia di tipo analogico, ed in questa parte sono trattati anche i problemi connessi alla rappresentazione di informazioni analogiche in forma numerica.
Nella seconda vengono trattati, a partire da considerazioni fisiche sui meccanismi di generazione del rumore, i modelli più semplici di canale di trasmissione, con particolare riferimento al canale Gaussiano bianco additivo.
La terza parte è dedicata allo studio in forma semplificata della trasmissione di informazioni di tipo analogico, sia in banda base sia con tecniche di modulazione analogica; vengono inoltre trattate, con esempi, alcune applicazioni delle modulazioni analogiche.
Nella quarta parte vengono trattati, in forma elementare, i problemi della trasmissione di informazioni numeriche: seguendo un approccio di tipo geometrico viene sviluppata anzitutto la trasmissione di simboli isolati, con la valutazione delle prestazioni, in termini di probabilità di errore, delle principali strutture di segnali; successivamente viene trattata la trasmissione di sequenze di simboli, evidenziando i problemi di interferenza intersimbolica ed analizzando le caratteristiche spettrali dei segnali trasmessi. Dopo alcuni cenni alla codifica di canale, vengono presentati alcuni esempi tratti dalle applicazioni di trasmissione numerica di comune interesse pratico.

For six centuries, history painting—pictures based on stories from myth, scripture, and ancient and modern history—was the most prestigious work a painter could do. Renaissance artists and writers laid down the definitions, goals, and rules. We outline these and look at many examples of how they changed as pictorial narrative evolved until its eclipse in the 19th century.

In fall 2013 John Walsh, Director Emeritus of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, presented a popular semester-long public lecture series that took a close look at eleven important paintings from Yale’s art museums that represent scenes from history, myth, scripture, or literature. The lectures traced the tradition of “history painting”—the category to which all of these works belong—from the Renaissance on through its rise to official dominance, its fall from privilege in the eras of Realism in the 19th century and abstract art in the 20th, and its reappearances in the 21st.

A History of Dutch Painting in Six Pictures (2015)
John Walsh, B.A. 1961, Director Emeritus of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and a specialist in Dutch paintings, offered a series of six lectures that explored the art of the Dutch Republic during its extraordinary flowering in the 17th century. By focusing on a single work each week and examining its artistic, intellectual, and political contexts, the audience became familiar with six great paintings and the artists who made them. Three of the works are on view at the Gallery and the others are in Dutch museums. Walsh examined the artists’ intentions, the role of competition in the art market, and the development of styles. The lecture series was free and open to the public, and it coincided with the loan of thirty important Dutch and Flemish paintings to the Gallery from the collection of Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo.

Painters in the Dutch Republic in the 17th century pushed the possibilities of art far beyond previous limits. They observed the visible world closely and mastered techniques for representing it. They found new meanings in old stories—mythical, historical, and biblical—and staged and restaged scenes from the everyday human comedy.
