Talks at Google was pleased to host Tom Fletcher, former British ambassador to Lebanon and author of the Naked Diplomat blog, to talk about his new book Naked Diplomacy : Power and Statecraft in the Digital Age.
You can find Tom’s website at https://tomfletcher.global and follow him on Twitter at @TFletcher.

About the book:
Naked Diplomacy is a book that explains how power works and why diplomacy matters more than ever in our digital age. Who will be in charge of the 21st century? Governments? Google? And how do we influence the future? In the next 100 years, the world will need to deal with the same amount of social development witnessed in the last 43 centuries – from the rebirth of the city state, the battle for new energy, disappearing borders, the desire of the world’s people to move to developed nations. Offering real-world examples of how diplomacy continues to have a significant impact on people's lives, and why it will continue to do so, the question at the heart of this book for all those in power is: Who do you represent? How can you do it better. Naked Diplomacy provides the answers.

About the author:
Tom Fletcher is a Visiting Professor of International Relations at New York University, and Visiting Professor of Diplomatic Practice at the Emirates Diplomatic Academy. He was British Ambassador to Lebanon (2011-15), and the Downing Street foreign policy adviser to three Prime Ministers, (2007-11).
