Stefan Simon, conservation scientist and inaugural director of the Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, presented a lecture titled “Are We Losing Our Past or Our Future? — Sustainable Preservation of Cultural Heritage.” Simon discusses a sustainable approach to preserving cultural heritage, and the societal commitment needed to do so. He also addresses global cultural preservation challenges from physical and chemical decay to the social and economic conditions which can endanger heritage assets.
